Rough Rider Maids

“College Day was dominated by an equal display of enthusiasm and college spirit. The delegations, each dressed in characteristic costume, formed a line of march and proceeded to the front of the hotel. Before the veranda, which served as a reviewing stand, each college gave its yell and sang its favorite song. The Vassar girls, ninety in number, wore large pink and gray paper hats; the girls from Wells were dressed to represent ‘Little Red Riding Hoods,’ while those from the western colleges united their forces and appeared as Rough Rider Maids.”
