For Silas Paine Fans

From the Santway Photo-Craft Co. (1917-1941) of Dansville, N.Y., a publisher of view-cards that mostly depicted scenes of the Adirondacks and Green Mountains of Vermont.

Silas Paine’s museum and, in the background to the right, his home at Silver Bay. This card is unusual as it’s from the Detroit Publishing Company, known primarily for their color “Phostint” cards.

Silver Bay in Winter

I recently found seven color cards of Silver Bay in winter without the postcard printing on the other side. I believe they are Dean Color (Glens Falls, N.Y.) prototypes of cards that were never published, possibly because winter sales would be low and therefore not worth the effort.
