YWCA, 1902

At the 1902 Student Young Women’s Christian Association Conference at Silver Bay: Miss Sorabji from India, Miss Palacios of Mexico from Boston University, Miss Yoshizawa of Japan from Folts, Miss Kawaii of Japan from Bryn Mawr, “dear Anna Stone” from China and Miss Vasileva of Bulgaria, both also from Folts Institute for Christian Workers, Herkimer, N.Y.

Of the conference Elizabeth Wilson writes in Woman’s Missionary Friend (August, 1902), “I am glad that when God made the world He made not only the mountains, sublime and awful, but the hills, lower and more human, and that when He made the limitless ocean, He also made the little lakes which the eye can surround and the mind can measure. And I am glad that the crowning experience of the college year for many an Eastern college woman is the experience of meeting God in a new and personal way beside the most beautiful lake in America and within the circle of compassable hills.”
